SINGAPORE, 27 February 2014 – Nikon Singapore, is pleased to support the first Community Photography Exhibition to be held in two locations, the first one on the 1st and 2nd of March 2014. Embracing the spirit of community, the exhibition will be held in the void deck of Block 9 in Jalan Kukoh.

The second location will be at The Gallery@Clarke Quay Central, from the 13th - 16th of March.

The exhibition features the works of 10 youth participants from 9 to 15 years old living in Jalan Kukoh, a rental flat community in Chinatown. The 10 youth participants are graduates of the first CaptureAspiration programme, jointly organised by AspiringforMore and Make The Change (social enterprise arm of M.A.D School).

They also found opportunities to network with adults who were role models to them, such as a police detective, a professional photographer and entrepreneurs, during an Aspirational Dinner that was graced by MP Lily Neo who marvelled at the photos taken by the budding photographers.

More than 60 photographs taken with Nikon DSLR cameras will be on display, accompanied with the short stories written by the youth participants. The exhibition showcases the intimate and interesting thoughts of their experiences in the rental flat community. Interesting episodes photographed include the story of Saddam, a 13-year old boy, who tried to care for some stray cats with his own pocket money, Aishya who took baby steps to embracing the community after she settled in with her mum, to that of an introspection of nostalgia by Syafiqah, aged 11.
